Entrepreneurship Education Initiative
Phase 3: Increasing Knowledge
College of Management students study standard business courses such as accounting, economics, human resources, finance, marketing, operations, and many other disciplines. Non-business students in the minor track have completed at least one course that allows them to gain an understanding of numerous business elements as they apply to an entrepreneurial venture. The goal of phase three is to take this foundation and build upon it with specific knowledge in the field of entrepreneurship.
In this phase of the entrepreneurship process, students have the opportunity to combine the knowledge base of these business applications and entrepreneurship with the information that they have been provided during the first two phases of the entrepreneurship process. Again, this phase incorporates academic as well as experiential components. Academic components include teaching students how to successfully integrate skills with knowledge, and experiential components allows students to apply these skills and knowledge to a working business plan.
The EEI orchestrates an annual business plan competition in which students compete with each other as well as other students throughout the University. This competition allows students an opportunity to present their business plans to experienced members of the entrepreneurship community for valuable feedback and a chance to practice many of the skills and implement knowledge that are critical to entrepreneurial success.
