The Annual $10K Business Plan Competition -

Open Division

Open to all NC State students, faculty, staff and alumni and their teams. The lead person on the team must have an NC State connection.

How to Apply

If you wish to be considered for the Open Division of the competition, please follow these steps:

  • Read the Policies and Guidlines.
  • Write and submit a business plan with an entry form to the EEI, Campus Box 7229, Raleigh, NC 27695 on or before the deadline.
  • The business plans are evaluated by a team of judges, who select the finalists.
  • Finalists present their business plans to a team of investors. Each presentation includes a rigorous question and answer session.
  • Finalists also receive critical feedback from experienced members of the entrepreneurial community concerning the business concept, business plan and presentation, manner in front of investors, preparedness for questions and quality of responses.
  • Upon completion of the finalist presentations, investors determine the winners of the competition based on the business plan, the presentation and the question and answer session.
  • Winners are announced at the Leaders Building Leaders Spring Event.

**Please note that deadlines and materials have not yet been released for the 2008 competition.

The Open Division competition awards a total of $10,000 in prizes. First place receives $6, 000; second place, $3,000; and third place, $1,000.
