In the Money: a Personal Finance Forum - on teaching youth about finance, Sept. 27, 7:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.
The college is co-sponsoring this quarterly personal finance breakfast seminar, along with Scott and Stringfellow, a BB&T subsidiary. The sessions are held at the Capital City Club. RSVP by Wednesday, Sept. 26.
This session features a discussion about ways to help children undertand personal finance and economics. If you know of any K-12 teachers - or parents - who may be interested, pass share this flier with those who may be interested. ... more

Brown Bag session on Second Life rescheduled to Oct. 5
Lynda Aiman-Smith, Claudia Kimbrough and Tony O'Driscoll will be taking you on a brief journey into Second Life - and explaining why they are working in this space. This session has been reschedule for Oct. 5. Check back later for the time and location.

State Employees Capital Campaign now under way
Register your pledge early and have a chance at a prize. Andy Nowell (Undergraduate Programs) is the college's contact for this again this year. Pledge information has been distributed thorughout the college. Faculty and staff in the dean's office, MBA Program, Computing Services or Undergraduate Programs are asked to drop off their contribution commitment to Andy Nowel or Terry Price.
There will be weekly drawings throughout the campaign as listed in the SECC website. Names not drawn to win one of the weekly prizes will stay in the pot for future weeks. Early contributors are eligible for more prizes. The campaign concludes on Oct. 15.
Carlos Sanford, in the college's computing services office, reminds us of an email that was sent this week concerning a Security Update for GroupWise. This applies to us, so on September 20, Groupwise will be prompted to Update GroupWise. Please Run the Update, which should take about 5-7 minutes. Recent economics grad is spending a year in Uganda
John Simpson (econ, '07) is spending a year in service to the Anglican Diocese of Northern Uganda. He will be updating his website regularly, as soon as he gets the technology sorted out. In an email note Sept. 19, he expressed thanks for 'interest and support from back home.' His web link has been added to list of 'college bloggers'... more
Time to update the online faculty experts guide
It's time to update the information in our online faculty experts guide. You can view the online experts guide here. go to the home page of the website (www.mgt.ncsu.edu), click on the Media button. Then select the two versions of the faculty-staff directory to see what information has been posted for you. New faculty have not yet been entered, as we need the topics on which they would be willing to talk with reporters. All faculty are asked to submit updated information by Friday, Sept. 29. Being available to reporters seeking faculty experts for their stories is a valuable way to help increase the college's visibility in the community.
Notes for student organization advisors
Faculty members who are advisors for student organizations are asked to send to the college communications office the name and email address for this year's club president, and the new faculty advisor's name if that has changed. Click here to view the index of the college's student organizations: A few other marketing notes for faculty advisors to send to their group's officers:
- The college has a new logo, and student organizations should swap out their old logo with the new one on their websites and with other items. Contact Anna Rzewnicki to get the new logo.
- The development office has a number of gift items for guest speakers.
- The college has an online calendar; please encourage your officers to submit future events to be added to the college's online calendar.
