Alumni Events Provide a Chance to Network, Reconnect

The College of Management's Homecoming Porch Party is just one of several alumni events held throughout the year to provide alumni and current students, faculty and staff a chance to meet and network.

In the past year, the college’s Development and External Relations staff, who also coordinate college-level alumni and other special events, have hosted socials in Charlotte and Raleigh, and are planning to schedule alumni functions throughout 2009.

A wine-tasting led by alumnus Mark Adams, owner of the Amber Crest Winery in Matthews, N.C., was the focus of the social hosted in Charlotte at the home of Hans and Elizabeth Warren.

Several evening networking socials were held in Raleigh at NC State’s Vaughn Towers this past year, for alumni of the college’s NC State Jenkins Graduate School programs. “We have been seeing up to 200 guests at these events,” said Ira Weiss, dean of the college. “If the level of conversation is any indicator, it seems the alumni enjoy reconnecting with former classmates and meeting new students, faculty and staff. We hope these events continue to draw in new alumni and help the college create a strong, supportive community.”.

Individual degree programs also host events – from evening receptions at area restaurants to family picnics – for their alumni throughout the year. Alumni who have not been receiving announcements of upcoming events are encouraged to update their contact information so they can be notified as events are planned.
