October 2008 - MAC Alumni Newsletter

Dear Alumni,

We just had a MAC Alumni Board meeting the other evening to discuss several activities that are going on in the MAC program, and I thought I would send you all an update on these activities. Time goes by so fast! It seems that the fall semester just started yesterday, and instead, we really have less than half of the semester still to go.

I’ve seen many of you in the last month or so, between the Fall Accounting Department Banquet, on-campus interviews, and the MAC reunion. It has been nice to catch up with you. The banquet was Tuesday, September 16th at the Raleigh Marriott Crabtree Valley Hotel, and we had a record number of attendees. Thank you for coming to honor the large number of students who have received scholarships and fellowships over the last year.

Our first MAC Reunion was last Saturday, October 18th at Pullen Park. We wanted to feature the MAC Classes of 1995 – 1998, since it has been at least 10 years since alumni from these classes graduated from the MAC Program. Attending from the MAC Class of 1996 was Rebecca (Mabe) Ackerson; Christine Bauer, Robert Schneider, and Deborah (Fabian) Smith attended from the Class of 1997, and Mark Motamen represented the Class of 1998. Between alumni, current students, the MAC Team/Department Head, and all of the respective family members, 61 people attended. It was a very family friendly good time, with games, giveaways, rides and food. We’re already planning to have our second reunion next year, featuring the MAC Class of 1999.

Don’t forget that our fall MAC & MBA Professional Networking Reception (Alumni Social) is Wednesday, November 5th at the Park Alumni Center on NC State’s Centennial Campus. The reception runs from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and hors d’oeuvres, wine, beer and other beverages will be available. Please come and visit with other MAC alumni, current MAC students, and accounting faculty – I would love to see you! RSVP to Andrea Young at andrea_young@ncsu.edu.
