July 2007 - MAC Alumni Newsletter

Dear MAC Alumni,

Thank you to everyone who has submitted their contact information for our new alumni advisor network.  This information is being added to our new database and should be up and running on our website soon.  If you still would like to be included in the alumni advisor network, go to the alumni webpage (http://mgt.ncsu.edu/mac/alumni/mac_news.php) and click on the link for MAC Alumni Contact Information.  We hope this tool will be helpful to students and alumni in the future.

It was great to see many of you at the MAC Alumni and New Student Social that was held on Wednesday, June 13th at Hi5 in Raleigh, and at the Greensboro Tour of Cities Alumni Social on Wednesday, June 20th that was held at Natty Green’s Pub & Brewing Company.  I hope you had a good time reconnecting with other alumni and meeting many of our incoming students.  We’ll definitely keep these social activities going and hope that you all get a chance to attend one at some time.

We are busy putting the final touches on our 2007 MAC Tour of Cities plans.  Once again, we will be visiting three cities – Charlotte on August 13-14, Atlanta on August 16-17, and Washington, D.C. on August 20-21.  There are approximately 12-15 students traveling to DC and Atlanta with myself, Katherine, Andrea, and Frank Buckless, while 18-20 students will be traveling to Charlotte.  Given the travel time to D.C. and Atlanta, we are scheduling visits to 4-5 firms there, and we plan to visit 6-7 firms in Charlotte.

If you reside in any of those areas, Katherine, Andrea, Frank, and I would love to catch up with you while we are there.  We will be holding Alumni Social events in all 3 cities.  These will take place on August 13th (Charlotte), August 16 (Atlanta), and August 20 (DC).  Please plan to attend – you should be receiving invitations in the near future, or give Andrea a call for details.

We are also making plans for the annual Meet the Firms event in Raleigh.  The event has gotten to be so popular that this year, it will take place over four evenings - September 5, 6, 10, and 11th from 5:30 – 9:00 p.m. at the downtown Raleigh Sheraton Hotel.  With so much firm interest in this event, we are inviting 18 firms to attend, with 4-5 coming each night.  The schedule will be the same as in the past - each firm will be located in a separate room and will get 30 minutes of time with each group of students.  We expect 40-45 MAC students and 40-50 accounting seniors to attend.  I look forward to seeing many of you who will be attending as firm representatives.  If you have any questions, please let Katherine know.
