MAC Study Abroad
The Prague Experience - Summer 2008
This Study Abroad program provides MAC Class of 2009 students an opportunity to participate in a short-term international experience. The program will be offered over a 25-day period during the summer of 2008 (May 15 – June 10).
Students will complete three-credit hours of graduate-level coursework. Courses to be offered this summer are:
ACC 510 – Accounting for Mergers and Acquisitions
ACC 511 – Accounting for Derivatives and Hedging Activities
Both courses are required of all MAC students (each course provides 1.5 credit hours) and are taught by MAC Professor Bruce Branson.
Classes are held in the NC State College of Design’s Prague Institute—a renovated fourteenth century building located in the heart of the historic center of Prague. Hotel accommodations are in Vinohrady--a residential section of the city a short tram or metro ride from the city center.
Cost of Program
The program fee is $3,050 for 3 credit hours, per person and includes hotel accommodations with breakfast each day, the Study Abroad fee, medical insurance, a special events fee, a Prague travel pass, three weekend excursions outside Prague (two nights in Vienna, Austria and in Cesky Krumlov, Czech Republic, and three nights in Munich, Germany) and orientation materials. Airfare is not included and is expected to be approximately $1,000 - $1,200 per person. Students are responsible for lunch and dinner each day and should budget between $100 and $150 a week for meals.
Please note that the program fee includes applicable tuition for these courses. MAC students completing 3 hours in residence at NC State in the summer of 2007 paid tuition and fees of $1,380 (in-state) or $2,814 (out of state). Summer 2008 tuition and fees have not yet been released (but will be higher). Please consider the incremental cost associated with the study abroad experience in making your participation decision.
