MAC Study Abroad
The Prague experience - summer 2006
Nine MAC Class of 2007 students, accompanied by MAC Professor Bruce Branson and his wife Kelly and MAC Program Director Kathy Krawczyk and her husband Joe, spent four weeks in Prague over Summer 2006.
Students were enrolled in ACC 510, Accounting for Mergers & Acquisitions; and ACC 511, Accounting for Derivatives and Hedging Activities with Professor Branson for two weeks of intensive study. During the second two-week session, students were led by Professor Karel Buchta, a Czech expert on International Business Strategy.
The Prague study abroad experience takes advantage of the presence of the NC State College of Design’s Prague Institute—a renovated fourteenth century building in the heart of the Old City. The Institute, and its full-time Director, Dana Bartelt, provide a wonderful infrastructure for classes and for exploration of the city.
Students are housed in a residential neighborhood pension, with easy access to Prague’s modern metro (subway) and historic trams. Cultural events and sight-seeing visits to many of Prague’s historic buildings and parks are a wonderful component of the trip.
