Innovation Management Concentration

Innovation is the source of value creation for companies and nations. The Innovation Management (IM) program at NC State integrates the best formal education, ongoing research, and industrial practice to provide tomorrow's managers and their companies with innovation capabilities that sustain superior business performance and meet customer needs.

In practice, successful innovation requires cross-functional collaboration across many disciplines. Because of the challenges associated with spanning traditional functional boundaries and interfacing across disciplines, effective management of the innovation process is a key driver of success. The backbone of the IM program at NC State is an emphasis on cross-functional, end-to-end product development and the integrated systems perspectives needed to conceive, create, launch, and support innovative solutions.

The IM program is founded on and continuously refreshed through active partnerships across colleges at NC State, as well as partnerships with industry leaders, research centers, and government agencies. The IM program provides the foundation necessary to equip the next generation of managers with the skills and knowledge they need to effectively lead corporate innovation efforts and entrepreneurial new business ventures.
