Nelson Hall Building Access After Hours
If you plan on accessing Nelson Hall after hours, you will need a fob. Please complete and sign the attached form and bring the form to Christine Miller in 2102 Nelson Hall with a $25.00 check payable to NC State University. This is a refundable deposit. (We do not accept cash or credit cards.) Please contact Christine at 515-5560 or e-mail to confirm that she will be in the office, when you plan to arrive.
The fob identifies the student entering the building. If the fob is lost or stolen, you must notify Christine immediately, so that she can deactivate it. Failure to report lost or stolen fobs or allowing someone other than the assigned fob holder to use the fob may result in charges to the student for damage or theft of property in the building, as a result of entry into Nelson Hall by use of the lost or stolen fob. Below is the normal unlocking schedule for exterior doors in Nelson, when class is in session. The fob will only open two doors, both of them are in the east courtyard.
Monday–Thursday: all doors unlocked 7:00 am - 10:00 pm
Friday: all doors unlocked 7:00 am - 6:00 pm
Saturday only ES1001 unlocked 11:45 am - 5:00 pm
Sunday only ES1001 unlocked 11:45 am - 8:00 pm

Your NCSU Email Account
Don't forget that your NC State issued email account (Unity) is where all of your MBA-related communication will sent to.
In addition, your Unity email address is the address that NC State uses for correspondence with you. Email regarding your classes, student information, eBILLs and correspondence from faculty will be sent to your Unity address. To check your Unity email, you can use Webmail or you can use an IMAP-compliant email client.
This email requirement will overwrite any non-Unity email address you may have as your preferred email address in PackTracks. If you still want to get your university related emails at a non-NCSU address, you will need to forward your Unity email to that other address. To forward your Unity email, please visit the Unity forwarding page.

maintains, please see: Email Processes at NC State

Career Resources
Message from Linda Taylor, Director, Career Resources, COM
Recently, I was in a classroom and heard an MBA student ask whether he was going to be "forced" to attend corporate information sessions again this semester. This set me to thinking that we in Career Resources probably need to do a better job explaining the benefit of these sessions to our MBA students.
Corporate information sessions serve a dual purpose: They allow our MBA students to learn more about the various employers AND allow employers the chance to get a good impression of our students. With the relatively young age of our MBA program, NC State is sometimes overlooked as a potential source of talent by certain employers. In an effort to get "on their radar", we court them and invite them to campus to see for themselves the talented students enrolled here. Once they have agreed to visit, it is imperative that we make a good showing. This means adequate numbers of professionally attired students actively posing good questions. Our students do a great job and their attendance at the sessions has changed the minds of several recruiters about adding NC State to their recruiting school list.
Students not currently seeking full-time jobs (generally first year students) can begin making vital networking links early in their MBA career by attending these sessions. Perhaps the function the recruiter is seeking does not match up with the student's area of concentration. Attending the session allows a student to make a connection with the recruiter and perhaps get a "warm" introduction to the proper hiring authority rather than making a cold call.
Sessions are scheduled in the late afternoon in an effort to allow our working professional population (part-time students) to attend prior to class at 6 PM and usually include beverages and a snack.
We realize that information sessions are yet another item to juggle along with homework, projects and tests. But, we believe they are a great investment. The ultimate goal of an MBA student is not to graduate with a 4.0, but to secure a position worthy of their training and talent. It's about getting the job you really want. Attending information sessions are just one way to achieve this.
