BioPharma Management Concentration
About this concentration
Fast-paced advancement in the life sciences is opening new management career paths in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. The new BioPharma Management MBA Concentration was designed to provide students the in-depth knowledge they will need to deal with both the scientific and management challenges facing this emerging industry.
The new concentration was designed for students with a solid life sciences background, gained either through academic studies or extensive work experience in the field. It was developed in collaboration with the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences at NC State, with input from leading companies in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries.
The BioPharma Management Concentration curriculum involves a dual concentration that includes the biopharma concentration and the MBA program's regular four-course concentration in one of its traditional areas, such as entrepreneurship, finance, innovation management (services innovation or product innovation), marketing, or supply chain management. The biopharma concentration provides in-depth coverage of issues faced by the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries, including legal and regulatory issues. Full-time MBA students will also complete an internship with a biotechnology or pharmaceutical firm. Please note: with a dual concentration, there are some instances where each concentration does not require four (4) additional credits, if a course is taken that is relevant to both concentrations.
