Legal scholar Richard Epstein to present John W. Pope Lecture

Oct. 2, 2006 - Leading legal scholar Richard A. Epstein will be on campus in March to present the John W. Pope Lecture. His public lecture will be held March 19, 2007, at 7:00 pm on the NC State campus. There is no charge to attend this public event.

Epstein’s lecture will draw on his book, Simple Rules for a Complex World. The book is part of a triology, which also includes Skepticism and Freedom and Principles for a Free Society.

Epstein directs the Law and Economics Program at the University of Chicago, where he has taught and written about a wide range of legal and interdisciplinary subjects since 1972. He is currently the James Parker Hall Distinguished Service Professor of Law. He has been the Peter and Kirstin Bedford Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution since 2000.

In addition to his public lecture at NC State, Epstein will conduct  discussions with undergraduate and graduate students and faculty.

The Pope Lecture series is hosted jointly by the College of Humanities and Social Science's School of Public and International Affairs and the College of Management’s Department of Economics. It is made possible through a generous grant from the John W. Pope Foundation in support of education and research in political science and economics.
