Alpha Kappa Psi to host 6th annual charity golf tournament April 14

Business fraternity soliciting sponsors, players

Feb. 1, 2007 - Alpha Kappa Psi, the Business Fraternity at North Carolina State University’s College of Management, is hosting its Fifth Annual Charity Golf Tournament on Saturday, April 14, at The Neuse Golf Club, 918 Birkdale Drive in Clayton, NC.

This event is open to alumni of the NC State College of Management, the area business community, and others who enjoy golfing and would like to help support the student organization’s philanthropic activities.

This year, a portion of the proceeds from the event will go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Previous beneficiaries have included Peer Mediators, managed through the Raleigh YMCA, and the Susan G. Komen Foundation. This contribution was made in memory of Kim Dulaney, a College of Management alumnus who died from breast cancer last year, and the Kimberly Greene Dulaney Foundation which was established in her name to help to cover costs from her fight with cancer and to send her children to college.

“We have had between 75 and 85 players in the past two years, said Matt Walker, AKP member and one of the tournament’s coordinators. “The maximum size the field can accommodate is 108 players,” he said. “We would love to maximize this field this year.”

The tournament originated in the late 1980s and early 1990s, and has been held annually for the past four years. “We have raised between $4,000 and $5,000 in the past three years, with between 40 and 60 percent of the proceeds going to our selected philanthropies.”

The student organization is soliciting players and sponsors for this event. Registration and sponsorship details are available online.
