'Energy economy' opportunities to be discussed at April 25 Sustainability Symposium
April 14, 2008 – Raleigh, NC – A panel of energy and sustainability industry executives will lead a discussion of career and other opportunities in the new energy economy at ‘Energize your Future,’ a Sustainability Symposium to be held Friday, April 25, 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at North Carolina State University College of Management.
This event, hosted by the Net Impact student organization at NC State, is part of North Carolina State University’s Earth Week celebration. It is open to the public at no charge, and will be held in the Nelson Auditorium, 3400 Nelson Hall, at the corner of Hillsborough Street and Dan Allen Drive.
This interactive panel discussion will take a solutions-based approach to evaluating various energy sources and their impact on the environment and economy. Six panelists - executives from a cross-section of energy and sustainability industries - will discuss how companies are navigating the new energy economy and career opportunities in this emerging sector.
Ira Weiss, dean of the College of Management, and Larry Nielsen, NC State University provost, will provide introductory comments. Leading the panel discussion will be Christopher Frey, professor of civil, construction and environmental engineering in NC State’s College of Engineering.
Following the symposium, the MBA Student Association (MBASA) in the Jenkins Graduate School of Management, will host a networking social, providing an opportunity for students and faculty to speak with representatives from the energy community.
“The aim of the forum is to see how companies are meeting our growing energy needs, as well as the environmental, social and economic bottom line,” said Derek Moretz, MBA student and president of Net Impact.
