NC State faculty conducting Internet privacy survey
Raleigh, N.C. – August 21, 2008 - Julie Earp, associate professor of information systems in North Carolina State University College of Management, and Annie Antón, professor of computer science in the NC State College of Engineering and director of ThePrivacyPlace.Org, are conducting an online Internet privacy survey to gather information about Internet privacy policies and user opinions and values.
“The survey should only take five to 10 minutes,” Earp said. “We will measure the results of this survey against those of a similar survey conducted in 2005 to see what changes have occurred. This will enable us to guide organizations as they ensure their website privacy practices are aligned with consumer values." The survey remains open until Sept. 8, 2008.
The survey is funded by a National Science Foundation Information Technology Research grant and additional support from Intel. Participants in this survey can enter their email address in a random drawing for one of five $100 Amazon gift certificates sponsored by Intel Co., as well as gifts from IBM and Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina. Entering the e-mail address is optional, and it will only be used to contact those whose entry is selected in the drawing. The email address will not be linked to participant responses in any way.
