Jenkins MBA moves up to 59th in US News & World Report rankings
March 31, 2008 - Jenkins MBA is ranked 59th by US News & World Report
The MBA program at North Carolina State University Jenkins Graduate School of Management was ranked 59th by US News & World Report, up from 74th place last year. The ranking was published in the 2009 edition of its America’s Best Graduate Schools report, which was posted on the US News website March. 28.
“We are pleased with the increased recognition of the quality and relevance of our MBA program as reflected in this year’s ranking,” said Ira R. Weiss, dean of the college. “With our focus on the management of technology and innovation, Jenkins graduates are highly sought after to fill positions in global supply chain, service innovation, enterprise risk management and technology commercialization,” he said.
“While such surveys are but one indication of an academic program’s quality, they do reflect the growing awareness of the value of our technology-focused curriculum among our peer institutions and those who recruit our students, as well as the quality of our students," he said.
"This would not be possible without the dedication of our faculty and program leaders who are continually enriching our students’ experience with new courses and experiences that prepare them for careers is today's technology-rich global marketplace.”
The Jenkins MBA tied for 59th place with Rutgers-the State University of New Jersey, and the University of South Carolina’s Moore School of Business.
US News and World Report surveyed all 425 master's programs in business accredited by AACSB International in fall 2007 and early 2008 for this annual survey.
Of those, 127 provided the data needed to calculate rankings based on U.S. News’ methodology:
- 25 percent of the survey results are based on a peer assessment, comprised of ratings of business school deans and directors of accredited master's programs in business.
- 15 percent of the score is based on survey responses from corporate recruiters and company contacts.
- 35 percent is based on student placement results, including starting salaries and employment rates at time of graduation and three months later
- 25 percent is based on student entrance scores and other student selectivity factors.
The Jenkins MBA is one of four programs in NC State College of Management’s Jenkins Graduate School of Management, which also includes the Master of Accounting Program, Economics Graduate Programs and the Master of Global Innovation Management.
The latter program is currently accepting candidates for its first class to start in fall 2008. The NC State College of Management also offers undergraduate degree programs in accounting, business management and economics.
