May 22, 2008 - Five students in NC State’s College of Management were recognized for their involvement in the university’s Leadership Development Series.

Receiving certificates of completion were:

  • Brynne Diaz, business management senior
  • Mason Littlefield , business management senior
  • Kevin Tilley, economics senior
  • Alexander Reed, accounting senior
  • Scott Richardson, business management junior

To earn the certificates, the students participated in 10 Leadership Development Series workshops, 20 hours of community service, and completed a leadership portfolio and portfolio review process.

The College of Management was also recognized for having the highest overall student participation in the Leadership Development Series during the 2007-2008 academic year.

“On behalf of the college, I commend these students for taking part in this program which is both personally and professionally valuable,” said Shannon Davis, associate dean for undergraduate programs. ‘I encourage all our students to explore this and other leadership development opportunities on campus."

Brenda McCarthy, director of undergraduate career resources, concurred. "Employers increasingly are placing primary emphasis on leadership, community service and valid work experience when making hiring decisions. These students have positioned themselves well to be competitive upon graduation,” she said.

The Leadership Development Series is presented by the Center for Student Leadership, Ethics and Public Service at North Carolina State University (CSLEPS).
