Admission

Completing the two degrees of the Hamilton Scholars Program is exciting but also challenging. Only exceptional students are admitted to this demanding program of study.

Students interested in participating in the Hamilton Scholars Program enroll initially in the College of Management and later add a second International Studies major in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. In conjunction with officially adding the second major in International Studies, admission into the Hamilton Scholar program requires completion of a short application form, including an essay.

Freshmen in the College of Management are encouraged to apply for admission to the Hamilton Scholars Program after spending a minimum of one fulltime semester at NC State. Other currently enrolled NC State students may also apply to the program.

These students are normally expected to have a GPA of 3.00 or better and should apply to the program before completing the sophomore year. Transfer students from outside the university will also be considered for admission on an individual basis. The main admissions cycle is in the spring semester with a deadline of February 1. September 15 is the deadline for fall admission but students must have spent at least one full time semester at NC State.
