Catch the spirit: Real Deal Field Day
Although it didn't last long, student earlier this week did bring the college's new marketing messages to the Free Expression Tunnel ... but you'll have plenty of time to hear about the College of Management, its brand, and have plenty of fun and food at Thursday's Real Deal Field Day. There'll be free food - including a southern-style pork barbecue, games, and a chance to meet people from various student organizations, academic programs and offices in the college.
The ‘Real Deal Field Day,’ with inflated game stations from Interactive Playground, plus COM Olympics, will take place April 12, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m., at Marye Anne Fox Field, behind Nelson Hall. Read more
Net Impact hosts Sustainability Conference
The NC State Chapter of Net Impact is proud to be hosting “Sustainability Conference 2007.” The conference will focus on sustainable businesses and renewable energy. It will feature Bob Kingery, president of Southern Energy Management as the keynote speaker as will include several panel discussions. Read more.
Beta Alpha Psi participates in 10th Annual Service Raleigh
This past Saturday, students from the college's chapter of Beta Alpha Psi participated in the 10th Annual Service Raleigh, an annual event organized by NC State students to help give back to the community. Read more.
Students help make a difference
Research findings from BUS 465 - Integrated Marketing - have already made a difference at the college. One of the research projects focused on the college's website. The college's webmaster took the initial student research results to heart when updating the website, including more graphics and color, and streamlining the navigation. Check it out! Cameron Village Library hosts panel discussion for women in business
Cameron Village Regional Library, in conjunction with National Small Business Week, is hosting a panel discussion program about women entrepreneurs entitled, "Women Entrepreneurs Tell All! Triangle Business Success Stories." The panel will be held on Monday, April 23rd from 6:00-7:30pm, and will feature four very successful women business owners who will be discussing their road to success as well as general topics concerning women in business.
This program will be a great networking and informational meeting for prospective women business owners, businesspeople thinking of going into business and current owners who want to hear about successes of others and how they were able to grow and expand their business here in the Triangle. Volunteers needed to help set up for Earth Day 2007
Paul Williams, professor of accounting and member of the Faculty Senate, is helping to recruit volunteers to assist with setting up tables and other duties required to get Earth Day off to a great start. The theme for this year's event is Sustainable GTransportation ... Fuel Your Life, Not Your Car! Earth Day will be celebrated on Friday, April 20, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Brickyard. Opportunities in Entrepreneurship Workshop
On Friday April 13th, from 2:15-3:45 p.m., Harry Sapienza, the Curtis L. Carlson Chair in Entrepreneurial Studies at the University of Minnesota, will lead a workshop here at NC State's College of Management Board Room. The workshop theme is "Opportunities in Entrepreneurship Research." For more information contact Greg Young.
Ethics case competition coming up
The 3rd Annual $1,000 Business Ethics Case Competition will be held April 18, 2007. The theme this year is "Business Ethics Excellence for RFID [in the retail industry]."

Counseling Center development workshops
The Counseling Center will be offering a series of personal development workshops in April. The series will include workshops on assertive interpersonal skills, anger management and perfectionism. The workshops will run from April 9-27. For more information see the Counseling Center flyer or contact Angel Johnson.
United Nations Association Human Rights Conference
The Wake County and West Triangle Chapters of the United Nations Association will be hosting a conference entitled “Human Rights, an Endangered Concept: The United Nations and the Advancement of Human Rights.” The conference will examine the role of the United Nations in advancing human rights. In addition, practical ideas about how ordinary citizens can work to advance human rights will be discussed.
