College Calendar
The college's online College Calendar is a resource for students wanting to see what's coming up in the college, and for student organizations interested in reaching students with announcements of upcoming events. There's a link to this calendar on the college home page and in the right column on this page. Student organizations are encouraged to submit events for posting to the calendar.
Cisco recruiters visiting today in search of Supply Chain Management Summer Interns
Today, Cisco Line Managers from San Jose are visiting the College of Management to recruit Supply Chain Management Summer Interns. Rather than a formal information session, the recruiters will have tables set up in the student commons from 3:00-6:00 pm, where they will meet with students, review resumes, and give away pizza and prizes.
They are looking for undergraduates (primarily) who are interested in supply chain management internships in San Jose this summer. This is a paid position, and support for housing will also be provided. MBA students who do not require sponsorship are also encouraged to attend. For more information please contact Jeff Sackaroff.
Ethics case competition coming up;
Workshops to be held today
The 3rd Annual $1,000 Business Ethics Case Competition will be held April 18, 2007. The theme this year is "Business Ethics Excellence for RFID [in the retail industry]."
This competition is open to undergraduate and graduate students in the NC State College of Management.
Students interested in participating are encouraged to attend one of two March 14 workshops to learn of details and submission processes. The workshops will be held from 3-4:15 pm in Nelson 2406, and 6-7:15 pm in Nelson 2402.

IRS criminal investigator to speak at IMA meeting Thursday
The Institute of Management Accountants will be holding a meeting on Thursday, March 15, at 6:00 pm in 4210 Nelson. We will have free pizza and refreshments. Tim Reilly, a criminal investigator with the IRS, will be speaking. The IMA expects this will be a very interesting discussion. All majors are welcome.
2007 Pope Lecture to feature leading legal scholar Richard Epstein
Leading legal scholar Richard A. Epstein will present the 2007 John W. Pope Lecture on March 19, 7:00 p.m. at North Carolina State University. This public lecture will be held at the Nelson Auditorium; there is no charge to attend. ...read more.
BioPharma Management Club to host guest speakers at March 19 meeting
The NCSU BioPharma Management Club will be meeting on Monday, March 19 from 5-6 pm in Nelson 1130. The club will be hosting two guest speakers, Sam Straight, Executive-in-Residence for the Supply Chain Resource Consortium, and Richard Kouri, Professor of Practice and Director of the BioPharma Management Initiative. The two will be speaking about their experiences in the BioPharma industry. Refreshments will be provided. For more information please contact Charlie Foy.
March 21 Wachovia Executive Lecture to feature Nortel executive
Mike Zafirovski, president and chief executive officer of Nortel, will present the March 21 Wachovia Executive Lecture hosted by North Carolina State University’s College of Management.
The lecture will be held at the Nelson Auditorium, 3400 Nelson Hall on the NC State main campus. It will begin at 4:30 p.m., and is open to the public at no charge.
Business Ethics Society speaker series continues
The Business Ethics Society is hosting two speakers next week:
March 19: Rob Thompson, a public interest advocate for the North Carolina Public Interest Research Group. He will speak on the topic, “Managing in the Public Interest.” Thompson is currently working to protect the rights of homeowners left with unsatisfactory work when their contractors leave. Additional information is available online.
March 21: Jacob Blass, president of Ethical Advocate, a company devoted to providing a model for all ethical behavior within business practices. He will speak on the topic of “Whistle-Blowing.” Additional information is available online.
The sessions will be held in 2402 Nelson Hall, 6:00 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. No reservations are required. These sessions are open to the NC State University community.
Marketing students launch survey as part of Coca-Cola competition
Students in the College of Management's Integrated Marketing Communications Project class (BUS 469) are surveying people ages 13 to 24 to learn their media, advertising and promotional preferences. Participants in this anonymous survey have a chance to win a $50.00 gift card. Results of this survey will be used in the students' report as part of the American Advertising Federation’s Coca-Cola - National Student Advertising Competition. ... read more & link to the survey

United Nations Association Human Rights Conference
The Wake County and West Triangle Chapters of the United Nations Association will be hosting a conference entitled “Human Rights, an Endangered Concept: The United Nations and the Advancement of Human Rights.” The conference will examine the role of the United Nations in advancing human rights. In addition, practical ideas about how ordinary citizens can work to advance human rights will be discussed.

The College of Design hosts author Karsten Heuer
The College of Design, in conjunction with NCSU Libraries and theCollege of Veterinary Medicine, is sponsoring a lecture by Karsten Heuer titled "Being Caribou" on Friday, March 23, 2007, at 6 p.m. in Witherspoon Campus Cinema.
Heuer's lecture, based on the book by the same name, is free and open to the public. A book signing will be held immediately after the lecture.
