American Marketing Association Student Chapter Meeting, Oct. 2

Tuesday, Oct. 2, 6-7:30 p.m. in 2210 Nelson.

Following are two new organizations formed this year, and their faculty advisors. Watch for more details later.

Supply Chain Club, Oct. 4

Thursday, Oct. 4, 6:30-8 p.m., 2405 Nelson, free pizza and soft drinks. This is the first meeting of this new student organization; Donavon Favre, lecturer, supply chain is the faculty advisor.

There's also a new Finance Club, led by Bill Sloan, lecturer in business management. Watch for details.

Both of these new organizations will soon be added to our list of College of Management Student Organizations.

The World at a Glance - Study Abroad Photo Contest
Voting is now open for the 2007 Study Abroad Photo Contest.  All students, faculty, and staff are invited to visit http://studyabroad.ncsu.edu to view pictures from around the world and to vote for their favorite photograph in each category.  Please make sure you cast your vote before October 12. Winners will be announced and displayed on our website and around campus throughout November.  More details regarding the contest can be found on the website as well. Support your fellow students and enjoy the photos!

Distinguished astronaut to touch down at NC State
Hall of Fame astronaut Robert Crippen along with other representatives from the Astronaut Hall of Fame will be speaking and presenting a scholarship to two NC State students. Mr. Crippen served as the pilot of the first space shuttle flight, commander of three subsequent shuttle missions, and served as director of the Kennedy Space Center. Crippen’s presentation will take place Thursday, October 4, at 1:15pm in 222 Dabney Hall.

Tutorial Deadline
The undergraduate tutorial center will accept new applications for individual tutoring by appointment no later than October 10. This mid-semester deadline is set to promote their tutoring philosophy that students meet with success by using tutorial services regularly throughout the semester. Students who are new to the tutoring program and interested in applying for a tutor should visit our website at http://www.ncsu.edu/tutorial_center to schedule an orientation appointment.

Student Bridges Applications due Monday, October 29, 5 p.m.
Are you a woman junior, senior, or graduate student at NC State? Are you a woman interested in developing your leadership skills?

If you answered yes to both of these questions, then you are cordially invited to participate in STUDENT BRIDGES, a leadership development program for women students at NC State University.  Sponsored by the NC State Women’s Center, Student Bridges is a FREE semester-long program geared toward upper class and graduate students who seek to build upon their leadership skills

  • Through the program, participants will be exposed to:
    Developing insights into leadership, with a particular focus on the special skills and attributes women bring to their leadership roles
  • Experiencing One-on-One mentoring with a faculty/staff member or local professional
  • Increasing awareness of obstacles faced by women as well as individual and collective strategies to address these issues
  • Exploring life choices and career opportunities through a career research and interview
  • Refining and improving their cross-cultural awareness and communication skills
  • Gaining a deeper insight into building self-esteem, self-awareness and self-confidence

The application deadline is Monday, Oct. 29. Women students interested in this program should complete the Student Bridges Application and Reference Form.
